In the Pacific region, journalists and the media are under threat. The rapid spread of misinformation on social media, budget constraints, workplace harassment and harsh media laws make it difficult to report on social, political and economic issues. But women in the media are pushing back.
Pacific Island women journalists including the former EMTV Director Sincha Dimara, reporter Julie Badui-Owa, Fijian journalist and Foreign Correspondent Lice Movono, and Solomon Islands journalists Chrisnrita Aumanu-Leong and Jennifer Kusapa, talk about their individual and collective experiences of harassment and (mis)treatment in the course of their work as female reporters.
