Research Methodology

This chapter revisits the collaborative development of the Kakala research framework by Indigenous Pacific scholar-community members. The author reviews the origins of this framework as a project, describes its elements, and review the ways in which the framework was conceptualized not only as a response to restrictive dominant research practices but also as a way of honouring Pacific Island Nation cultural and linguistic practices.
