AUTHOR(S)
Arts

Fear and embarrassment were emotions I experienced in regard to the texture and appearance of my hair as a child. Teasing out memories of my desire of wanting to fit in with the majority led me to believe that I had a fear of having an afro or what I like to term as an Afrophobia. A hybrid stop motion animation created in 2007 with Media Arts, RMIT University.

Lisa Hilli, an Australian artist of Papua New Guinean Gunatuna (Tolai) heritage. Her practice explores the politics of gender and identity, colonial history in the Pacific region and ethnographic collections relating to Papua New Guinea through contemporary art.
