Hello, as a fellow researcher on the PNG project, the 2 key questions that guided the project on family protection orders related to:
Are orders being issued?
What is the impact of the orders?
As part of our project we asked applicants about the second question, almost all women. We did not collect the views of the respondents, who are predominantly men. Most of the orders related to situations of intimate partner violence. It is difficult to approach the respondents, given it may pose risks for the applicants. I’d be interested in others’ views on a) whether respondents (men) should be interviewed and (b) what other methods have been used to review/assess orders.
