This study examines how international aid shapes feminist movements addressing gender-based violence (GBV) in Fiji. Drawing on interviews, talanoa sessions, document analysis, and aid-flow mapping, it explores the opportunities and challenges that donor funding creates for local feminist organisations. The findings show that while international aid has expanded resources for advocacy, survivor services, and movement-building, donor priorities and reporting requirements often influence local agendas and place significant burdens on organisations. The research also highlights tensions between donor-defined measures of success and locally grounded understandings of empowerment, healing, and social change. The study argues that more flexible, long-term, and locally led funding approaches are needed to strengthen feminist movements, enhance organisational autonomy, and support sustainable responses to GBV in Fiji.
