This report focuses on both the enabling and constraining factors which impact on women’s representation in political decision-making at all levels in the Forum Island Countries (FICs). The second part of the report focuses on the barriers to the advancement of women and points to political advancement of women is constrained by both institutional and attitudinal factors.
Dealing with these will require both a regional and national level approach, which views women’s lack of
representation as a problem which needs to be tackled with urgency.
Part three of this report provides recommendations for addressing the lack of women’s political representation
in FICs at regional level.
