Adding value to the family and sexual violence referral pathway in East New Britain, PNG

AUTHOR(S)
Development

This paper offers missing link options in wards that can be supported through participatory media led by each Ward Development Committee (WDC) in PNG to address gender based violence (GBV), particularly family and sexual violence (FSV). The WDC is made up of the elected Ward Member in the lowest census unit called a ward. Each ward has sister wards who together make up and come directly under a Local Level Government (LLG) aligned to the electoral boundaries GoPNG recognise as the legitimate Government in each ward. Global governance efforts continues to over resource existing inter agencies that are disconnected to indigenous citizens who harbour perpetrators of GBV and FSV. Addressing GBV in PNG is complex and the efforts addressing this are loosing traction with no arrests to hold perpetrators accountable.
